Bamberg Green Man

Bamberg Green Man

bamberg-green-man-sculpture

This Green Man is based on the carving to be found in
Bamberg Cathedral in Germany.

The Cathedral Green Man is medieval, and is adorned
with Acanthus leaves and dates from around 1237.

He is part of the enigma of the many Green Man faces that
were carved in medieval Churches and Cathedrals
throughout Britain and Europe.

No one really knows why they were carved by the medieval carvers,
were they a tribute to the Pagan spirits of old?

Meticulously hand made from marble mixture.
This ensures a fully weather proof finish should you wish
to display this chap outside.

Complete with wall hanging hook.

Size: 20cms high x 12cms wide.

Weight: Aprox 2.2kgs.
